Shocked

My lovely mum decided to host a craft afternoon today so that I could sell my cakes along with her craft stuff and a friends jewellery...I spent all day baking yesterday...had a fab time...I made 7 batches...
2 x Chocolate
1 x vanilla
1 x red velvet
1 x coconut and pineapple
1 x lemon
1 x Green velvet ( which i haven't made before...they were a pinky green, my fav colours :) )

84 cakes in total !
well only 81 made it to the sale because my husband, sister and daughter all just had to have a taste, lol.

I set them all up at my mum's on my cake stands and waited nervously(in my sophie dahl style strawberry dress and my irregular choice cherry red gingham shoes) for everyone to arrive...it is very nerve wracking...wasn't expecting to sell many and was so shocked that after two hours they had all gone!!!  Lotsa nice things said about them too...am so happy...people like my cakes!

This has been the most cakes i have made in one go...was tiring but lots of fun....i went to the school craft fayre last month and was shocked to sell 36 there...selling 81 has just blown me away...

Ive just got a new kenwood prestige free standing mixer....cake making is even more fun and it makes the fluffiest of frosting :)

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME AND MY CAKES

Well as i said it all started with the HummingBird bakery cook book...i just started making my way through it, trying the different cakes out and forcing my friends to eat them...then i got asked to make 36 cakes for my mum's friend's ruby anniversary party...

Since then i have made  cupcakes for birthdays and a christening and a silver wedding anniversary

and to my husband's despair i seem to be collecting cake stands now :)

Hello

I'm not really one for being out there and saying look at me look at me, so this blogging thing is a little scary but I'm getting really into making my cupcakes etc and have now sold a few to friends and friends of friends so thought I'd better do something to promote them a little bit.

I've always loved baking esp cakes but since getting the hummingbird bakery book from my mum for Christmas, i just can't stop...i now need no excuse to bake :)

My personal favourite has to be chocolate of course but i love red velvet too...they look so lovely.

so here on my blog i hope to show off my cakes and share any tips i have...and if the odd pair of irregular choice shoes crop up then don't be too mad...they are another of my passions.
